Cristina Girard, artista naturalistica si occupa dal 1985 di illustrazione naturalistica.
In questo ambito ha contribuito alla realizzazione di disegni naturalistici per opere di editoria (La Stampa, A. Mondadori, Einaudi, Blu Edizioni, L'arciere, Piemme, Pearson Paravia, ecc.) e mostre didattiche (Centri visita di parchi naturali, Museo di Scienze Naturali, Torino).

Dal 1990 ha iniziato la collaborazione con la rivista Piemonte Parchi (Regione Piemonte) per la quale ha realizzato illustrazioni naturalistiche e scritto articoli di storia dell'illustrazione e di arte naturalistica. Le sue opere sono state eseguite con tecniche quali: acquerello, acrilici, china, matita, sanguigna, carbone. Per le sue opere pittoriche, oltre alla tecniche citate, usa anche pittura a olio e tecniche miste.

Ha conseguito il diploma di Liceo Artistico e la laurea all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Torino. Ha perfezionato le tecniche artistiche presso il pittore Francesco Preverino e l'illustratore naturalistico Franco Testa di Milano.

Per 13 anni è stata docente di Illustrazione Naturalistica presso l'Istituto Europeo di Design di Torino.

Ha condotto seminari di illustrazione naturalistico-scientifica presso l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, a Milano e presso l'Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti di Torino.

Annualmente tiene un Corso di disegno naturalistico per la Facoltà di Scienze Naturali dell'Università di Torino.

Nel 2008 ha fondato "Nautilus-Associazione artistica" per la pratica dell'arte e lo studio del rapporto tra arte e natura dove ha tenuto corsi d'arte e di disegno naturalistico.

Negli ultimi anni ha diversificato i corsi di disegno, inserendo un corso professionalizzante biennale di Disegno naturalistico.

Organizza week-end estivi di disegno in natura presso parchi naturali italiani.

Cristina Girard was born in Turin and, since 1985, she has pursued a career in natural history illustration.
Her drawings have been published in field guides and specialized books and Cristina has given a great contribution to Publishing wildlife works (for example, La Stampa, A. Mondadori, Einaudi, Blu Edizioni, L'arciere, Piemme, Pearson Paravia editions, etc.) and to educational exhibitions (nature reserves visitor centres, the Museum of Natural Sciences in Turin).

In the meantime, Cristina has worked and collaborated with different scientific and cultural associations. Since 1990 Cristina has been a consultant of the magazine "Piemonte Parchi" published by Regione Piemonte for which the artist has realized wildlife illustrations and articles.
As a successful illustrator, Cristina is versatile in more than one technique and medium. Along with well-honed skills in traditional techniques like drawing, watercolor, acrylics, ink, Indian ink, pencil, crayon, etc., in her pictures she shows good familiarity with oils and original mix different drawings techniques.

After her studies at art high school, Cristina graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Turin. Moreover, she refined her abilities through lessons by famous painter Mr Francesco Preverino and the wildlife artist Franco Testa in Milan. Besides, Cristina now has 13-year experience as a teacher at the IED (European Design Institute) in Turin.

Thanks to her deep knowledge of art techniques and to an interesting background in natural sciences, yearly Cristina steers tutorials of scientific and wildlife illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera, Milan, at the Albertine Academy of Fine Arts in Turin and at the Natural Sciences Faculty of Turin University.

In 2008 Cristina founded the "Nautilus" Artistic Association for the study and practice of art, mostly oriented on the binomial "Art and Nature": within this Association Cristina organizes her art courses.

Very frequently Cristina actively organizes summer schools "within nature" in Italian nature parks. Her constant journeys, watching and learning from nature, led Cristina to commit his work with the conservation of the environment and the sharing of this belief. "My love of nature has always inspired me to paint animals, plants and flowers. Mostly I like painting personality, character and soul into them".
